Hidden in plain sight: Chorale Preludes from Bach to Böhm

Free Entry - Donations

As one of the prominent compositional structures of the Lutheran tradition, the chorale prelude was a wellspring for creativity and imagination. Just as chorales were woven into the fabric of the service and thereby that of municipal life, so these eternal melodies are woven into, superimposed, hinted at and underlined in these rich and abundant works, creating a musical game of hide and seek that generates surface delight as well as deeper meaning. Join Liturina, St Clement Danes ensemble-in-residence, and experience these innovative masterpieces in a new light, transformed into colourful chamber works performed on historical instruments.
